The Food Itself

The subject matter of this book is the meaning of food in the work on health, and the quest is to make everything food for soul.

And how could we transform those elements to become food for the soul so that it may thrive? Can we do this the same way we have to take in and digest the physical world to survive? Are there any recipes?

This essay endeavors to answer these questions while approaching Marsilio Ficino (1433‒99) ‒ the cosmic ideologue of the Quattrocento rebirth, who was determined to revive the ancient knowledge of the sages, and placed the human being – his dominant preoccupation – in the centre of the universe. Ficino who was credited with propelling the European scholarly mentality through centuries to modernity, is the linking element between ancient wisdom and our present-day preoccupation for a healthy lifestyle.
